Associate Pastor of Children and Youth

Smithville Brethren Church is seeking to hire an individual to lead our Children's and Youth Ministries.  This position is a full-time position.  Candidates can send their resume to sbcsearch@earthlink.net.  

Job Description:

Title: Associate Pastor of Children and Youth 

Purpose:  To Lead the Children’s and Youth Ministries of Smithville Brethren Church 

Time Commitment: 45-50 hours per week


Area: Nursery-12th grade


Responsibilities and Duties: 

1 -Partner with parents to help their children become completely committed Christians

2 -Develop a comprehensive vision and direction for the Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry 

3 -Recruit, train and equip Children’s and Youth Ministry Volunteers 

4 -Oversee unified curriculum used in all Children’s and Youth ministry and ensure Brethren doctrine and practices are taught in age appropriate ways

5 -Help create a child friendly atmosphere at Smithville Brethren Church

6 -Assist in the transition between Children’s and Youth ministries 

7 -Manage Children’s and Youth Ministry Budget(s)

8 -Ensure compliance with policies in Child Safety manual

9 -Be actively involved in the Sunday morning Children’s program

10 -Partner with the Christian Education Board & actively participate in monthly CE Board meetings 

11 –Support Smithville Brethren Church’s commitment to community outreach 

12 -Preach in the absence of the Senior Pastor as well as assist with other Pastoral duties as assigned

Qualifications:

The Associate Pastor of Children and Youth Ministry should be a stable, growing Christian with a heart for leading children and Youth into the presence of the Lord and be able to lead a team of volunteers with different levels of experience in children’s education. The Pastor must have a strong background working with children, youth and parents in Christian education (e.g. Sunday school teacher/superintendent, Christian ministry worker, elementary school teacher) 

The Candidate shall be either ordained by the Brethren Church or willing to be ordained by the Brethren Church.
